Northampton Market Square Dog Show & this week's Friday Funny

We're staying close to home  for this weekend's show.... about 5 mins walk away actually!! We are sooo excited for Sunday's Fun Dog Show & all round Fun Day in our hometown :) Last year we had a lovely time... after we got our head around the totally surreal feeling of being on our very own market square lols! This year the show is bigger & better with more stalls, more space and more fun and once again is raising funds in aid of local charity Animals in Need. They are a fab little charity in Little Irchester & really do rescue ANY animal in need, not just your usual pet menagerie. When I volunteered there I also helped look after hedgehogs, ferrets, squirrels, blackbirds...the LOT! Integrated into the site is Maxicare which is a dog rescue which along with taking in strays etc, also save dogs from pounds who put animals to sleep so they do an invaluable job and constantly require support & supplies so increased awareness through this event is fantastic. This weekend is also the 22nd annual Northampton Balloon Festival and we are hoping to catch up with our gorgeous staffie model Benson & his almost as gorgeous *winks* mama Jayne from Fake Bake Princesses who are visiting for the festival so if anyone is town for the Hot Air balloons, come down and say hi to us!! It's also time for our weekly Friday Funny & today's is one to make you squeal with delight. Here is the absolutely divine Kiwi, an Alaskan Klee Kai puppy, discovering a lime wedge for the first time! Enjoy!! x x

Dogs Trust Harefield West London Fun Day

You know what? We are sooo lucky to be able to spend so much time with so many gorgeous dogs! This Sunday last was the Dogs Trust West London Fun Day at Harefield & once again we were there with our stall having a fab time! 

It was our first time at the Harefield centre for their Fun Day (we go there alot for books etc when we visit The Millers though as it's only round the corner!) and we were so impressed with lovely Sian's organising - the site looked pawesome! There were yummy pancake & donut vendors, a cake stall with the biggest muffins I have ever seen, a little funfair section for the little ones, a petting zoo, tombolas & raffles and much more!

We were so lucky with the weather - it was tropical! Lovely sunshine all day :) And the sun brought out the visitors, at one point the queue for the car park was over half an hour up the road and there was a real possibility the car park would have to shut altogether! Which is brilliant news for the charity and all those dogs needing care and shelter. And check it out, its a HUGE Site...Wooo!

As the site is so local to Lee's family, they all came up to visit us which was really lovely! Even 92 year old Grandad Ben came along in his wheelchair ♥  

Mum fell in love with 10 year old Lurcher William who is in desperate need of a new home as he is getting increasingly distressed & depressed in kennels and is refusing to eat. He would have been coming home with her had it not been that he needs to be the only dog in the household so if anyone you know is thinking of rehoming please please mention him to them!

Laura @mistew on twitter came to see us too which was a lovely surprise & meant we got to see scrumptious Min Pin LJ in real life! Check out his adorable photo in the gallery! Dogs Trust Salisbury Fun Day

So last Sunday was the fabulous Dogs Trust Salisbury (@DT_Salisbury) Fun Day!! It was our first Dogs Trust event of the summer after we had to cancel Kenilworth last month due to that evil summer flu I generously passed around to everyone *oops!* The day was once again a roaring success with lots of lovely stalls for doggies and their bipeds...including a doggie bobbing for hotdogs stall, a timed doggie dash, bric-a-brac, pancakes, beer tent, fun dog shows, an attempt to break the world record for the biggest simulntaneous sit and MORE! *and breathe*...

Once again we had a fantastic time meeting all the gorgeous dogs and their wonderful owners. The total raised is an amazing £18,450.53!!! Wooooo!! A big paws up to gorgeous Leslie who organised the day and is a constant   supporter of Puppy Love *big hugs lovely lady!*

Unfortunately there just weren't quite enough doggies to break the record of 629 but an amazing 463 did take part! Wow!! And it was such a lovely sight to see - and sooo quiet! I think alot of doggies got ALOT of treats over those 3 minutes :)

We also met up with our 'I'm Deaf' bandana muse & model, Jasper!! It was sooo lovely to see him & his family again and hear  how well he is getting along now. He also won a rosette in the show! GO Jasper! Kathleen, Becca & his fursis Poppy have done so well training him and making him feel happy & secure - you're stars! Again Kathleen and family have been great supporters of our products - thankyou so much lovelies! *hugs*

We also met Helen Smith of Reflectionz Photography who is an amazing photographer and took some wonderful shots of the whole day AND the Puppy Love stall! They are awesome - thankyou Helen! And not forgetting Artist Patricia Davies who is a brilliantly talented lady - see her fab pet portraits at www.patriciadavies.co.uk.

Dogs Trust Snetterton Fun Open Day on Sunday 12th June 2011

Another date for your diary Puppy Love-rs! We are delighted to confirm that we shall be at the Dog's Trust Snetterton Fun Dog Show and Open Day on Sunday the 12th June. The event starts at 12noon until 4pm and gates open at 11.30am for registrations into the show! Take the A11 (Norwich to London). The turning for the Centre is situated two miles south of Attleborough and two miles north of Snetterton race track. Take the turning for Snetterton Village and follow the signs for Dogs Trust. Please note if you are travelling from Norwich you'll need to follow signs to Shropham village and look for the signs to Dogs Trust.

Dogs Trust Kenilworth Open Day

As those of you who follow us on Twitter may know, we have been booking our Summer 2011 events over the last few weeks... and our first confirmed event is.....

Dog's Trust Kenilworth's Open Day on Sunday July 10th 2011

This was our first event EVER back last summer and gives us the warm & fuzzies so we are so excited to have been invited back and to see all the Kenilworth staff and doggies again! Collingbourne K9 Festival 2010

So, this Saturday just gone, we went to the Collingbourne K9 Festival at Parsonage Farm in Wiltshire... And we had a super day and met some really wonderful people!! Sadly, the turn-out was hampered by a terrible crash which shut the M4 (the main road in) which meant that the Guinness World Record attempt was out... :( but everyone still did a practice sit!! Lee and our jumper model 'Bruno' even joined in much to the amusement of the crowds! 

Claire Lingard, the festival organiser, really did a fantastic job organising the day & there were so many lovely stalls and amusements for the children - including bouncy castles & a laser-quest!! The show had a great country feel to it with haybales to sit on around the ring & even cider! We saw the lovely ladies from Dog's Trust Salisbury again which was brilliant - we had met Lucy's little doggie at Kenilworth but this time Lesley's little bundle of fun came along too :)

Another pair of lovely ladies we met were Sarah & her mum Jennie from The Enchanted Tree. We had a good ol' natter & giggle with them & bought a gorgeous mobile of hens for our kitchen. All their items are fair-trade & our little hens were made by a women's co-operative in Kenya :) . The site is the-enchanted-tree.co.uk & is soooo worth a visit! Brilliant prices & a great range of goods from mobiles to shopping bags to hand knitted kenyan toys! Plus all natural & ethical too - what more could you ask for?! Little & Large

Check out these cutie-pies! Boo Boo, a tiny little chihuahua girl, weighs just 2 pounds and stands 4 inches tall and is the world's smallest doggie. Yesterday at Central Park in New York, she met George... the world's largest dog! He weighs 245 pounds & stands 43 inches tall!! Boo Boo's owner, Lana, said she is her little miracle after vet's did not expect her to make it. When she was born she was just an ounce! George is a gentle giant who sleeps on a queen size mattress at the end of his owners' bed & loves to play. The two got on well and Boo Boo was not scared of him - she went over to say to hello! Cute!! x x

Super-Staffy!

This weekend a very brave Staffy chased off 3 armed burglars in Wigan! The men broke into the family home with a gun and attacked the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and then his human sister but he wasn't put off and chased them away down the street. Bless his brave little lion heart! The breed get such a bad name in the press, so it is so lovely to see a positive story ♥ Click the title link above for the full story.

This coming weekend, the 18th, is the Collingbourne K9 Festival which is supporting 2 very deserving Staffy charities... Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue & Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue and PUPPY LOVE will be there! Yay! We are so looking forward to the whole day & the Guinness World Record Attempt. Be sure to tell all your friends & anipals to come along if they can to take part! x x

Greyhound Gala

This Sunday is the Northants Greyhound Rescue 'Greyhound Gala' @ Towcester Racecourse and we are going to be there!! Yaay! We are really looking forward to it. The day starts at 10am and includes a 20 class dog show - yes..20!! All breeds are welcome to join in the fun & judging starts at 11am. There will be lots of fun things going on including trade stalls of all varieties, food & drinks and a chance to meet some doggies who are looking for their forever home... maybe it will be with you!! ♥ We will have an extra large collection of our greyhound & lurcher bandanas with us, along with our "Race Cars not Greyhounds" cotton shoppers & special greyhound & lurcher coats. x x

Jerry Green Fun Day

Today was the Jerry Green Fun Day at Brixworth, Northamptonshire! And doing exactly as promised...it was lots of fun!! :) The weather was not kind today with near gale-force winds & torrential rain showers but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits & everything carried on as if we were basking in tropical sunshine. The marquees just about stayed pinned down and after the storm we got some lovely sunshine to dry off in! There were so many lovely bits to do & see including doggie healing, a fortune teller, bric-a-brac from just 10p (!!!) & agility training classes. And as if that wasn't enough, a full dog show! So many lovely doggies came along it made it very hard for the judges to choose winners. Our handsome greyhound friend Jake won his 2nd award in less than 10 days, coming 3rd in the puppy class. Yaay! We loved meeting all the dogs and their owners & had a great time. Looking forward to seeing how much money was raised for the centre - they really do work sooo hard & help so many doggies who without their intervention would have been sent to doggie-heaven early *leaky eyes*. We have missed you!!

Our computer has been poorly sick for a whole week & sadly still hasn't been fixed! *fingers x-d will be soon though!*  That's why we've been AWOL! But my lovely Mummy has lent hers for a few days so we are back... yaay!!

And it's an exciting few days for us ... this Friday we are going to the Big Smoke for a day out admiring Manolos & visiting the Harrods doggie, then Saturday is my birthday (Eek!) & most importantly on Sunday it's... the Jerry Green Fun Day!! Yaaay!! We are very excited about it!! It is going to be lovely & hoping lots of the lovely dogs there will find their forever home. The Market Square Dog Show was great & we loved meeting all the doggies and their owners. I just found out that the day raised just over £1000 for Animals in Need which is fab news :) I will be uploading photos later today.

Buzzy is still training to use his Poochie Bells but the rain has been a little bit of a problem... he has always hated the rain & wet and getting him out is a challenge but we are getting there. Honey is still scared of the bells but we are working hard to get her used to them! Think making some progress :) x x

Collingbourne K9 Festival

PUPPY LOVE is going to be at the Collingbourne K9 Festival on September 18th at Parsonage Farm, Wiltshire!! It is the very 1st year of the festival & we are very excited to be taking part indeed. Money will be raised for Help for Heroes, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Wiltshire Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue & Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue. There will be a Kennel Club Licensed Dog Show with 18 classes, a 'Max-Factor' talent competition, food & drinks stalls, charity & trade stalls PLUS a Guinness World Record Attempt!! It is for the "the Largest Simultaneous Dog Stay" and starts at 1pm. The record is for the greatest number of dogs who ‘stay’ successfully at a single venue. The current record (as of 31st May 2010) was 627 dogs at an event called “Super Sit” organised by the RSPCA at the Wag and Bone Show, Windsor Great Park (UK) on the 6 August 2005. If you can make it, come along and help beat the record!! It looks like going to be such a fun day!! For more details click on the link below x x

A Busy Weekend!

Phew...! We have been rather busy again this weekend... in between dodging the ma-husive thunder storm & bucketfuls of rain mother nature bestowed  on us, we have made a new batch of scottie dog cushions, oilcloth pegbags & have trialled a new product... the draft excluder!! Pics of that to come in the next few days!!

We also rehomed this not-so-little guy from the Cancer Research Charity shop.... 

His name is Henry and he is our new Large & Extra Large bandana model!! You can meet him on our stall at this Sunday's Northampton Market Dog Show & the Jerry Green Fun Day on August 29th ♥

You may have been wondering how Buzz is getting on with his Poochie Bells ... well he has given them his 1st cautious little nudge so we think he is making progress... yaay! Although the rain is still a problem - he just hates it & it's such a problem when trying to get him out *sigh* but we will get there. Honey on the other hand is not at all scared of water...but is scared of the Poochie Bells so we are working on getting her used to them! xx

Jerry Green Fun Day on 29th August

Yaay.. another fun day for PUPPY LOVE! We are very happy & proud to be a part of the Jerry Green Brixworth Centre's Fun day on August 29th. They are a fab centre & all the staff and volunteers are so dedicated to helping and rehoming the doggies that come in to them in need of a home. The fun day is taking place at the centre, just outside of Brixworth, Northampton and starts at 12noon. It is going to be such a fab day - there will be a doggie artist, ice-cream & even doggie healing therapy! Plus free parking for evreyone! You can find out more here . xx

Northampton Market Annual Dog Show

Ooh... more exciting PUPPY LOVE news!! We have just confirmed our stall @ the Northampton Market Square Annual Dog Show on August 21st! It is the 3rd year the show is taking place after being a huge hit in 2008 and 2009 & we are sooo looking forward to being a part of  it. There are 12 different judging categories to enter & prizes for top 6 in each. Download your entry form here. Proceeds go to local animal charity, Animals in Need, where I used to volunteer!! They are very dedicated to their cause - helping all animals from cats & dogs right through to hedgehogs & squirrels.
